20 Mar DEANTA INTERNAL FIRE DOORS: TESTING AND CERTIFICATIONS
OUR COMMITMENT TO FIRE SAFETY
In an interview released to the Daily Mirror, the Communities Secretary James Brokenshire stated:
“…[The] door industry must take responsibility for replacing their defective fire doors and we are urgently working with them to give effect to their commitment as soon as possible…”, referring to fire safety in wake of Grenfell Tower blaze. Mirror, “Three quarters of fire doors failed safety tests in wake of Grenfell Tower blaze”, 15 FEB 2019.
The same article also reports that “three quarters of fire doors failed safety tests” after the tragic events occurred in 2017 in London.
Therefore, one of the main issues raised after the dramatic events, is accountability:
“…the culture of accountability that has been long so absent from the sector needs to be inculcated. Partly that is matter of changing minds and attitudes. It is also a matter of making individuals and organisations personally and corporately responsible for the buildings, and on a continuing basis.” Independent, “Grenfell Fire: Accountability must be built into the housing sector”, 18 DEC 2017.
As an organization, as one of the UK’s leading door manufacturers, we have always taken this matter very seriously and we have continuously been testing our doors in recent years, in order to ensure that the safest product possible is delivered and used in people’s homes.
The latest test, and probably the most important to us, occurred on 18th Jan 2019, at Warringtonfire.
Warringtonfire offers UKAS accredited certification from its Warrington office and is able to provide certification schemes for products and personnel, in particular the Certifire certificate.
